Udny Climate Action and Udny Community Shelf collaborate to deliver “Going Zero Waste” event
Local groups within Udny, Pitmedden and Tarves have come together to host a public event as part of Climate Week in the northeast. The event “Going Zero Waste” will be held at Pitmedden Hall on Saturday 26th March from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm.
Udny Climate Action and Udny Community Shelf have been working together on their first joint event, which they hope will attract lots of attention from the local community. The “Going Zero Waste” has been made possible with support and funding from PUT Community SCIO, Undy Community Trust, and Udny Community Shelf.
Organisers are expecting the event to attract visitors from the local area, to come together and learn more about zero waste, reducing waste, re-using items, whether that’s sharing, repairing, or donating and recycling items resulting in sending less to landfill.
The event will have a mix of community initiatives, businesses, charities, and community organisations exhibiting at the event, offering hints, tips, and advice on eco-living.
Exhibitors will include Stella’s Voice, Co-op, Aberdeenshire Council, Wood Recyclability, Bare, Coulliehare Allotments, a Fairtrade group. Along with Udny Climate Action’s Swop Shop, there will be a mix of activities for kids. Children have been invited to make an imaginative creation out of discarded material, with judging on the day.George Allan, Chairman of Udny Climate Action, said, “We are delighted with the response and support we’ve received from the community and organisations in bringing this event to fruition. It’s been a lot of hard work, and we are all looking forward to a great turnout.”
